video brings back memories of fishing like this aboard Myrtle LH24 from Port Seton. Visited the trust on Wednesday 16th June at South Shields thanks to Peter Weightman for tour. You are all doing a great job restoring and looking after these old boats.
Thanks Bruce Buchanan.

My Dad was a Whitby fisherman, so was I for 20 years, he was great friends with Tom and Bella Douglas, the only holidays we had were spent with them at Seahouses.
Dad was a cobleman and I fished in cobles and keelboats out of Whitby. I now have a little 28 foot coble called Morning Star, built by Tony Goodall at Sandsend, I bought her last August and she had an awful wheelhouse on here and I have put her back as she was when Tony built her

Hi - just came across the Rachel Douglas article by chance. When I was a kid we stayed at the Wilson's boarding house for our summer holidays. I went out on the boat several times. Our eldest daughters teddy bear is actually called Rachel Douglas.
Let me know if there is anyway to participate in the boats upkeep.
I used to use the name in writing technical documents for computer applications and systems. Rachel Douglas was my fictitious user.

thanks

Yes, Golden Gleam looks very like Peggy, but didn't they all look like that in those days? They are very like the old Cambridge Bros boats but all of them closely follow the same tradition. Ralph Dawson did have a man from Amble for a while, after he started building new boats. However, Ralph had been repairing older cobles for years before he started building new ones like Golden Gleam. Who can say what his influences were?

Look very like Peggy, 28ft built at Harrison's in Amble in the 1920's. Is it likely that Dawson's Boat Builders in Seahouses had people that had been trained at Harrison's.
